Taavet Hinrikus is co-founder and Chair of TransferWise. Prior to starting TransferWise, Taavet was director of strategy at Skype, where he started as its first employee. One of the World Economic Forum's Tech Pioneers, Taavet is an adviser to the Prime Minister of Estonia on the digital agenda, one of the European Commission’s High Level Group of Innovators and a member of the WEF’s Europe Policy Group. He’s also a mentor and angel investor; his investments include Tweetdeck, Mendeley, OMGPOP, Property Partner, Sunrise, Improbable and Mapillary. About TransferWise: TransferWise is a new kind of financial company for people and businesses that travel, live and work internationally. Founded in 2010 and launched in 2011. Over 800 people work at TransferWise - we have nine offices around the world. Over two million people use TransferWise. The company started out offering international money transfer. It recently launched its Borderless account for businesses; the consumer account and card will arrive later in the year. Customers are transferring more than £1 billion every month with TransferWise - saving themselves more than £1.5m every day by using TransferWise rather than other providers.The service covers 750+ routes and offers 40 currencies. The company has raised almost $400m in funding to date. Its investors include Max Levchin, IA Ventures, Valar Ventures, Sir Richard Branson, Andreessen Horowitz, IVP and OMGI. The company has 10% UK market share; £100m revenue run-rate; and £8m revenue/ month. The company's been cash-generating and profitable since the beginning of the year.
